This week and today, in particular, I’ve felt a deep heaviness, sadness, and even a little anxious.
I spent some time looking at news articles online in an attempt to understand WHAT in the world is going on right now in our country.
Insurrection.
Impeachment.
Martial Law.
After reading a few articles, I felt anxiety. I felt unsure. I felt confused. I felt fear and worry for our country.
The truth is, I have always found politics confusing and frustrating. Sometimes it feels like a giant mind game, to which I have lost the directions and pieces to. So I scramble to try and find all of the pieces and the directions so I can understand all of the rules and decisions being made by the players, but it hardly ever all makes sense.
Our world right now feels so chaotic…I think that’s truly the best word to describe it. Now on top of COVID, we have all of these political oddities happening!
But as I sat here and pulled up article after article…because each one mentioned something or someone new I needed to look up, I felt the Lord remind me to set my eyes on Him. To stop looking for answers on the screen and to instead pray and seek HIM.
I don’t think that God wants us to never read the news or to be uninformed, but for me it was a reminder to remember that the Lord is in control of ALL things and people, even when everything feels chaotic and confusing. I don’t have to understand all things and not everything is going to make sense to me at face value, but I can have peace knowing that the God I serve is in control and understands all things.
So, before I research or look for answers, I look to the one who already knows. I ask for peace, for wisdom, and for understanding. I turn my eyes upon Jesus.

I love the song “Turn Your Eyes” by Lauren Daigle and have found peace in listening to the lyrics and praying over them…
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free
Through death into life everlasting
He passed and we follow Him there
Over us sin no more has dominion
For more than conquerors we are
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
His word shall not fail you, He promised
Believe Him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell
I’ll definitely visit this blog again, thank you 🙂
